Richeson School of Art & Gallery is pleased to present a NEW Holiday Event! The 12 Days of Richeson will run from Monday, December 2nd to Monday, December 23rd. Visit Richeson Gallery for extended hours, 12 special classes and events for the entire family, original holiday art by local and regional artists, a one of a kind artists’ tree decorated with artist crafted ornaments, live music in the galleries, and so much more!

To the Lighting of a Special Christmas Tree!

On Monday, December 2nd Richeson Gallery kicks off 17 days holiday programming with the lighting of a unique Christmas tree adorned with artist crafted ornaments! Join us at 10am when we light the tree. Ornaments made by local artists including Cheeky Ceramics, Heather Oetzel, and Jon Wos will be available for purchase.

Stop by for extended hours from 10am to 7pm on Mondays throughout the month of December.

On Tuesday, December 3rd we will unveil our annual Wall of Minis! Each 6×6 artwork featured in the Wall of Minis is affordably priced at $95 each and made by exceptional Wisconsin based artists. The Wall of Minis offers a wonderful opportunity to buy art as a gift or start someone on their art collecting journey. Come find that perfect work of art to make your holiday season bright!

A Book Binding Class!

Long Stitch Book Binding – One to Give & One for Me!

There is something so special about handbound books that once you make one, you won’t want to give it as a gift – which is why in this class students will make TWO long stitch books. One to keep and one to give as a gift!

Books bound using the long stitch binding technique are not only beautiful but sturdy and open flat, making them excellent for use as sketchbooks. Book artist and Richeson Gallery Manager, Emily Runnerstrom will teach students this book binding technique and students will leave class with two finished books – perfect for gifts. Or to keep. We won’t judge.

All supplies are included in the class fees. Students will choose either leather or wool felt for the cover material. Vegan options are available for an additional $10 charge.

A Drop-In Oil Painting Class!

Giftable Oils – Holiday Themed Miniature Oil Painting

  • Instructor: Nathan Brandner

Using simple holiday themed still lifes, award winning artist Nathan Brandner will teach students how to capture simple shapes using only a few bold brush strokes. The resulting paintings will have a fresh and cheerful style that reflects the mood of the season and a perfect for giving as gifts.

This class will be taught throughout the day. Brandner will offer instruction in his method three times – from 10am to 11am, from 12pm to 1pm, and from 2pm to 3pm – to allow students flexibility in scheduling. Simply register for class and choose the time that works best for you. Students are invited to remain beyond these times of instruction to continue working on their paintings and receive guidance from Brandner.

All supplies are included in the class fee.

To an Artistic Ornament Making Class!

Few things are more nostalgic than an ornament crafting session during the holidays! Handmade ornaments make wonderful gifts and add a lovely touch to your Christmas tree or cookie plate. Join us in the studio for this after-hours making session when participants will learn three creative ways to make some special trimmings for their trees.

All supplies are included in the class fees. Additional ornament making supplies will be available for purchase.

A Collaged Greeting Card Class with Mel Kolstad!

Fond du Lac artist Mel Kolstad brings her signature collage style to Richeson School of Art for a special Holiday themed collage class. Students will learn some special techniques for creating artistic greeting cards and will receive enough materials to make eight cards for their special loved ones. These will be cards worth framing!

All supplies included. Extra blank cards with envelopes will be available for purchase.

To an Art Reception & Live Music in the Gallery!

You are invited to a special reception at Richeson Gallery celebrating the exhibition Phil Sealy: A Last Hurrah. Local musicians will provide the sounds of the season, and visitors will enjoy holiday treats while they are inspired by the artwork on display.

Family Art Day!

Holly Jolly Crafts-mas: A Family Make & Take Day in the Gallery

Saturday, December 14th, 10am – 4pm

$20 per crafter

Bring your family for a day of make & take Christmas crafts! Visitors will enjoy wonderful holiday themed projects for families to work on together. Crafts will include handmade greeting cards, ornaments, and painting a 15-inch-tall Christmas tree, made by the Jack Richeson & Co. woodshop craftsman. Enjoy some holiday treats around our artistic Christmas tree when you have finished your projects and create some family memories!

This program is offered in memory & honor of Hua Thao. Hua was a member of the Jack Richeson & Co. family of employees and woodworking department who passed away in 2023 right before the holiday season. Soon before his passing, he made his coworkers wooden Christmas trees for their workstations. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Hua’s family.

We request you register for this event by Sunday, December 8th so that the Jack Richeson & Co. woodshop has time to craft your wooden Christmas trees. A minimal number of extra trees will be available. Reserve your trees today!

To Make Watercolor Winter Scenes!

Watercolor Wednesday with Debo

Wednesday, December 18th, 10am – 2pm

Join us for Watercolor Wednesdays with Debo! On this second-to-last Wednesday of December, Greenville artist Deborah Vandenbloomer (or Debo to friends) will offer tips and techniques to inspire watercolor inspiration and success. Debo will start the session with a mini watercolor lesson on winter scenery. Students can then explore the lesson, work on their own projects among other watercolor enthusiasts, or receive some one-on-one guidance from Debo. No registration is needed for this drop-in watercolor class. Participants provide their own painting supplies. Please check the Richeson Gallery website class page for a list of suggested supplies.

To a Painting Class with Steve Wysocki!

Winter Trail in Oils

  • Instructor: Stephen Wysocki
  • Thursday, December 19th

Join Stephen Wysocki as he guides students through creating the painting Winter Trail in oil paint. Students will explore the process of painting with oils through studying color mixing, paint application and values, without the stress of determining the painting composition. Most students will finish the painting by the end of class.

A seasoned artist, Stephen Wysocki utilizes the bold application of color to convey movement and excitement in his pieces. “I am always looking to create an atmosphere in my work. I believe color can stand alone to convey a mood in a piece of work. I like to explore an image by playing with the many warm and cool tones.”

This class includes all oil painting materials; however, if you like to use an apron or gloves, please bring them with you as they will not be provided.  There will be a break for lunch.
