Starting in 2025, join us for an evening session of book art and printmaking in our studio every final Thursday of the month! This drop-in event is designed for book artists and binders, print artists, and creative people who are interested in learning more about the book arts and printmaking with the intent of coming together for a casual evening of instruction and mutual inspiration. Bring your latest project, take advantage of our studio printing press and enjoy the company of other artists.

During the February Artist Book & Print Night, we will begin the evening with Neenah artist and Richeson Gallery Manager Emily Runnerstrom. Emily will teach participants how to make a simple book press from readily available materials. An important tool for book binders and artists, book presses can be expensive but with a few affordable materials, and a short amount of time, artists can make an efficient press for use in their studio. This lesson will take place at the beginning of the evening after which participants are welcome to work on their own projects and enjoy the company of an artistic community.

Participants are responsible for providing the following materials used in constructing a book press:

  • Two wood boards (solid wood or ply) of the same size approximately 1/2″ to 3/4″ thick. For this project the boards should between 8″x10″ and 12″x16″. Wood cutting boards work well.
  • Four Zinc Coated (no galvanized) carriage bolts that are about 8″-10″ long.
  • Four wing nuts & eight washers that fit the carriage bolts
  • Four self adhesive cabinet bumpers (Optional)

Different instructors will join us for the following final Thursdays. Join us for diverse instruction in the book arts and printmaking!
