Oil Portraits Using the Zorn Palette

Instructor: Nathan Brandner
Date: Thursday, October 17
Time: 10A-3P
Fee: $90
Level: Intermediate +

Using only three colors plus white, the Swedish painter Anders Zorn captured his subjects with a
surprising variety of hues. Zorn may have worked in the late 19th and early 20th century, but his limited
color palette inspires and challenges artists even today. Working from a live model, students in this
intermediate oil painting class will explore the Zorn palette and focus on getting the most vibrancy out
of a limited color range. This class combines portraiture and color theory to uncover how to make a
big statement with a small amount of paint. All supplies included. There will be a break for lunch.

Online registrations close 24 hours prior to the start of class. However, registrations are possible via phone or in person up to the day of class. Contact the Gallery directly at (920)560-3777 to see if there are spaces available or to be placed on the waiting list.
