Embrace the challenge of portraiture using pure pastel pigment! Artist Mary Beth Drabiszczak teaches this class during which students will learn both pastel application, facial anatomy, and facial proportion. Class instruction will also explore how to capture different facial views including profile, three-quarter, and frontal view. Using Drabiszczak’s instruction and gaining inspiration from her unique style, students will create a small portrait in soft pastel from photographic references.
Award-winning artist Mary Beth Drabiszczak is a member of the Pastel Society of America, the Wisconsin Pastel Artists, and the Chicago Pastel Painters and has earned her master’s in Art History at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 2023. Drabiszczak’s research is inspired by her studio practice, and she actively writes on the history of pastel, especially related to portraiture.
All materials will be provided. There will be a break for lunch.
