Create 2022: A Wisconsin Art Show

Create!, A Wisconsin Art Show, was designed to encourage Wisconsin artists at every level of experience to create and exhibit artwork.

Richeson School of Art & Gallery strives to encourage artists young and old to pursue their passions in fine art. Going into its 7th year, this competition was established to further support emerging artists.


Dates

  • Online Submission Deadline: July 25
    • Create! 2022 will have an online submission process. Entry fees will be collected via PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account.
    • If you are unable to complete an online entry, physical submissions will be accepted by pre-scheduled appointment only JUL 20-21
    • Please contact Gallery Manager Emily Runnerstrom to arrange a drop-off appointment.
  • Jury Notification: July 29
  • Accepted Artwork Drop Off: AUG 8-10, 9a-5p
  • Exhibit on Display: AUG 20 – OCT 14
  • Artwork Pickup: OCT 17-18, 9a-5p
    • Pickup: Artworks not picked up within the pick-up time frame will begin to accrue a late pick-up fee of $5 per day beginning October 31.

Entry Fees per piece:

*Entry categories are self-defined. Please submit your work for the category with which you identify. Student category is reserved for high school or college students.

Acceptable Artwork:

  • Wall-hung (2-D) art may be created with oils, oil pastels and acrylic, soft pastels, drawing/dry media, watercolor, gouache, casein, printmaking, mosaic, or fiber art. Pieces (including framing/glazing) may not exceed 40″ on any side and must not exceed 30lbs.
  • Sculpture (3-D) art may be entered, but must have its own sculpture stand. No sculpture stands will be provided by the gallery. 3-D artwork footprint/stand must not exceed 36″ x 24″ and must not exceed 30 lbs. Sculpture (not including stand) may not exceed 60″ in any direction.

Rules & Regulations:

  • Maximum Submissions per artist: 4 pieces, up to 2 may be selected as finalists
  • Artwork must have been created after January 1, 2020. 
  • Artwork & subject matter must be original in concept. No reproductions or giclées will be accepted.
  • Artist must be a Wisconsin resident.

Presentation: 

  • 2-D entries must be suitably framed and wired for hanging (no clips or saw-tooth hangers will be accepted). Gallery-Wrap canvas or cradled panel is acceptable as long as the sides are neatly painted/finished. Gallery-Wrap canvas must have a depth of 1-1/2″ to 2″. No staples can be visible on the sides of the canvas.
  • 3-D entry sculpture stands need to be finished, this can be in the form of stained or painted. No raw sculpture stands will be accepted. Sculptures and stands must be stable.

Pickup: Artworks not picked up within the pick-up time frame will begin to accrue a late pick-up fee of $5.00 per day beginning OCT 31. This fee is waived if the artist contacts the gallery to request a late pick-up at the time of artwork drop off). Artwork remaining at Richeson School of Art and Gallery beyond Jan 1st will be considered abandoned and will be donated.

Liability: For in-gallery exhibits, artists should insure their hand-delivered or shipped work, as Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. and/or its subsidiaries is not liable for damage to artwork in transit or during display at Richeson School of Art & Gallery.

Richeson Gallery reserves the right to refuse to exhibit any work it deems unacceptable.
