Painting with Eggs?! While it seems unusual today, egg tempera has a history tracing back thousands of years. Quick drying, luminous, and durable, egg tempera is a fascinating painting medium that is enjoying a renaissance with contemporary artists.
Award-winning artist Hector Acuna will introduce the materials and methods needed to begin working with egg tempera. Painting with Egg Tempera requires a unique process of preparation and application making this class a great entry point into this intriguing medium from antiquity. Students will observe demonstrations in mixing the paint with egg yolk by hand before building images through layers of mark and line. Students will have reference images provided to paint from on small panels. While this class is open to all artistic levels, some drawing experience will be helpful. All supplies included. There will be a break for lunch
