No, Exquisite Corpse is not the title of your favorite true crime podcast. An exquisite corpse is a collaborative art technique that takes place between two or more people in which one artist begins a drawing and others finish the image without knowledge of what the previous artist created. The Exquisite Corpse was a game of sorts that was developed by Surrealist artists of the 20th century and continues to inspire creativity and humor among those who make them today.
In this class book artist Emily Runnerstrom will teach students how to make a sketchbook specialized to make and collect exquisite corpse drawings. Runnerstrom developed this book-binding structure and is pleased to share it with students in this class. Participants will leave with one completed sketchbook with room for 36 exquisite corpses per book, and the knowledge of how to make additional books suitable for hours of inspired collaborative art making.
