Understanding the structure of the human body is key to creating believable works of figurative art. In the class taught by artist Will Dickinson, students will develop their ability to correctly perceive the model’s main movements and verify proportional relationships. Students will identify light and shadow and create relief through tonal progressions in the light. Students will also learn to recognize anatomical landmarks and see simple abstract shapes, thus developing a foundation to make the transition from drawing to painting a figure easily and effectively. All materials are included and there will be a break for lunch. Students must be 18 years of age or older as they will be working from a nude model. All supplies included.

Will Dickinson was educated at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences and the Glasgow School of Art majoring in Fine Arts and Anthropology. Subsequently, he studied figurative drawing in Philadelphia. His art was featured at various group shows and solo exhibitions in New York City, Washington D.C., and Florence, Assisi (Italy).
