Silverpoint & Shellacked Paper: Drawing in New & Old Ways

Instructor: Will Dickinson
Date: Friday, March 8
Time: 12P-4P
Fee: $75
Level: Intermediate +

Try your hand at both a drawing medium of the Old Masters and a new way of using colored pencils. Classically trained artist, Will Dickinson will lead students in the practice of using silverpoint to create an image. A favored medium of Albrecht Durer and Leonardo da Vinci, silverpoint is the ancestor of the modern graphite pencil. In this class, Dickinson will also introduce students to using colored pencils on shellacked paper. This unusual process allows modern artists to achieve ancient effects like the red clay drawings of Renaissance artists. All supplies included.

Will Dickinson was educated at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences and the Glasgow School of Art majoring in Fine Arts and Anthropology. Subsequently, he studied figurative drawing in Philadelphia. His art was featured at various group shows and solo exhibitions in New York City, Washington D.C., and Florence, Assisi (Italy).
