Small Works in Oils

Working in oil paint, students will learn what it takes to successfully compose a small sized work of art.

Celebrating the current Richeson75 Small Works Exhibit here at the gallery, students will get the chance to make a small work for themselves. Working in oil paint, students will learn what it takes to successfully compose a small sized work of art. A basic review of working in oil paints will be accompanied with instruction on composition when working small. Instructor Nathan Brandner will be working with each student individually to get a completed painting. Part of this course will also cover a brief guided tour of the small works exhibit to learn from those who are working small in the contemporary art world.

Students will be working from photographs for this class, please bring multiple options in the form of printed photographs. These images should be clear and large enough for you to use as a reference. Please no stock photos, bring some wonderful images you have taken yourself!
