Getting into oil painting can be difficult and intimidating. This class will take away the struggle of having to mix and match color and will focus strictly on value. Using a monochromatic palette, students will execute a painting in black and white. Learning to control and utilize values in paint is a critical first step in familiarizing yourself with painting. Taking away the complications that color brings will help students ease into the painting process.
These principles can be translated to oil and acrylic painting; however, in this class, we will be working in oils. No experience necessary.
