If you are a watercolor artist and were ever wondering, “Hey I got my main subject matter, but I can’t figure out a background, what do I do now?” This is the class for you!
Day 1: We will learn about, and practice different types of techniques to create backgrounds that will work in our paintings. We will warm up with some practice papers (provided to you) and come up with some backgrounds that we will want to use in our final piece. We also encourage students to bring an image to work from that they need a background for. 11×15 watercolor paper will be provided for students to draw their final piece. (Students will need to bring their own paint and brushes.)
Day 2: Students will bring their pre-drawn image from the end of day one to this class, and we will work on the background of that image first. Once the background is completed, students will have opportunity to work on the foreground of the piece as time permits
